Founded by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in the 15th century, Fatehpur Sikri is a beautiful city in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh. The former fortified city was famous by the name of 'Red City' as the majority of the monuments erected were constructed out of red sandstone. Mughal Emperor was very keen to construct the grandeurs in an Indo-Persian style & till date, these splendors can be found in Fatehpur Sikri.
Fatehpur Sikri isn't a big city. It cascades across 8 sq. km. and is positioned in such a way that sacred rivers Ganga & Yamuna flow through it. The climate of Fatehpur Sikri is classified as moderate. Such climate brings extreme temperatures during the seasons of winter and summer. The median temperatures during summers remain 38°C whereas falls at 11°C on an average during winters. An adequate amount of rainfall is received by Fatehpur Sikri but an excess of rainfall causes flood-like conditions as well.
