Kufri Overview

Another natural marvel in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh is Kufri. Elevated at an altitude of 2,290 meters above the sea level makes it one of the highest regions in its surrounding; thus, attracting more tourists during winters due to increased snowfall. This hill station was nowhere to be found on the Indian map until 1819 when the British discovered it hidden 13 km away from the state capital Shimla.


It offers a pleasant climate during summers which range between 12oC to 19oC; thus, making it ideal summer retreat. During winters, this town is covered with a thick layer of snow making this place ideal for snow skiing. Take a trip to this to experience the enchanting beauty of nature and also enjoy a panoramic view from the Indira Tourist Park.     We used Mohini tour services to shimla. The driver was a local guy. He knew all the routes. He was very adept and very friendly. We took Innova. There are places like Jakku temple where the local can drivers challenged that a big car like Innova cannot cannot be driven through the narrow hilly road. But the driver managed the narrow turns very professionally.In many tourist places in Shimla like kufri and naldera the local horse guys mislead us by telling us to rent a horse and we cannot go by walk and also that we have to rent dresses and shoes. This is completely wrong. We had to spend a lot of money on this. Being a local driver he could have guided us and help us save lot of money. ...more
