Kaza is a mesmerizing valley and a town in Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. The hilly terrains of Kaza resemble the popular tourist spot Ladakh. It is divided into 2 parts, old Kaza is known as Kaza Khas and new Kaza is known as Kaza Soma. The place is the largest township in Spiti and Lahaul.
Kaza is elevated at a soaring height of 11,980 feet and is shrouded by the white snow capped Himalayas. Such serene ambiance makes it a pure place where pollution does not exist. The snow capped peaks around the valley keep it cool amid the year and winter months stay here for a longer period of time. Kaza experiences snow fall during winters and mercury levels drops below zero degrees. This, at times, becomes a nuisance as heavy snowfall blocks the roads and disconnects Kaza from rest parts of India. On the other hand, summer season is a pleasant time and temperatures do not rise above 20 degrees.
Kaza becomes a popular trekking destination during the summer months and a lot of adventure buffs flock to this place for an enthralling experience of trekking. The Sakya Tangyud Monastery is also located in Kaza and is a famous religious spot.
