Tabo is a less inhabited small town stretched between the Lahaul & Spiti districts. It is surrounded by marvelous hills that make this place tranquil. With a serene environment, Tabo lies on the road between Reckong Peo & Kaza that can be considered as a traveler's delight.
Tabo is entrenched at an altitude of 3,280 meters above sea level. The shroud of peaks keeps the temperature cold across the calendar year. The winter season can be felt most of the time amid year as compared to summer season. During the peak of winters, the temperature goes below 0 degrees during days as well as nights. Even the summer season isn't allowed to soar up more than 15 degrees during days and nights.
If someone thinks that there's nothing to see here then re-think. Tabo boasts numerous caves that are said to be thousands of years old. These caves are the earliest significance of human habitation in the mountainous regions. Also, the Tabo Monastery is a must visit place here as it holds a rich heritage of Tibetan Buddhism found here.
