Badrinath is a holy town located in Chamoli district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is situated at a height of 3133 meters above the sea level. As one of the most important pilgrimage spots for the Char Dham Yatris, the town gets its name from the temple of Badrinath. The place is located in the shadow of Nilkanth Peak and between two mountains Nar and Narayan. Dedicated to lord Vishnu, the temple of Shri Badrinathji is 5 meter high and is the major attraction here.
There are numerous pilgrimage sites including Deo Prayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Nandaprayag, Vishnuprayag and Pandukeswar throughout the route to Badrinath. There are Neelkanth Parvat and Vasudhara fall for the nature lovers. The town is situated on the banks of Alaknanda River and reckoned for its majestic sights. The best time to visit the place is between March to June as the weather is pleasant with temperature revolving around 18°C.
