Entrenched on an altitude of 6,000 feet and hemmed by green surroundings, Govindghat is a small town in Chamoli district of Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand. Complimented by numerous small waterfalls, Govindghat lies on the way to Hindu pilgrimage site of Badrinath & Sikh pilgrim shrine of Hemkund Sahib. It is a breath taking road-head site in Uttarakhand.
Govindghat experiences normal temperatures throughout the year. The summers aren't searing but days and night remain warm, whereas, the winter season brings a drop in the temperatures that scale between 10-20 degrees. The monsoon season is not a favorable season because more of rainfall invites flood like situations and landslides. Due to this, the roads often get blocked heavily and take a long time for clearing.
A journey to Govindghat remains incomplete if some alluring destinations aren't visited. The nearby attractions to Govindghat include Auli- the skiing spot, Joshimath- home of Shri Badrinath, Bedini Bugyal- the alpine meadow, Vasundhara waterfall and valley of flowers.
